Plasma TV Problems

Plasma TVs are awesome and all, but like other electronic appliances, they have their share of problems. In many cases, the TV would turn off automatically, or some suffer screen blotches which can severely impair your viewing pleasure. I mean, who wants to watch shows or movies on TVs that shut off by themselves all the time, or have screen blotches so bad, your eyes feel like burning…It’s no fun!

These issues happen all the time and for a variety of reasons. In this post, I wish to share a few common plasma television problems and the things that you can do to solve them…

Problem #1: Blurry Visual

The usual culprit for this problem is pixelation. You see, the display of a plasma TV consists of a large number of very small pixels. These pixels are commonly referred to as color dots. Pixelation occurs when you attempt to size-up a low resolution image which may lead to pixel breakage. When this happens, the plasma display becomes blurry.

It’s a huge concern if there’s blurring whenever you’re viewing a low-resolution image. Frequent blur is often the result of malfunctioning components, therefore the best course of action is to send the TV to an electronics technician, preferably someone with decent experience in repairing plasma or LCD television sets.

Problem #2: Burn-In

Okay, this problem happens all the time! I’ve been repairing plasma TV sets for almost a couple years now and this is a problem that I encounter pretty much on a weekly basis. This problem is pretty weird as it keeps displaying a particular image onscreen for an extended period of time causing visual overlap. This is what happens when you keep the TV turn on for far too long.

Take my buddy Chris for example…The guy is an avid gamer and when he’s playing videogames, he has a habit of leaving them on pause for a pretty long while. Sometimes he would pause a game, then leave the house to buy some snacks, prepare snacks or sandwiches in the kitchen, heck he would even pause a game and start reading comics for like half an hour.

This is a bad habit and is a sure-fire way to induce plasma TV burn-in. If you’re going to pause the game for longer than 10 minutes, then you’re better off switching off the TV and the videogame console, otherwise it’s going to lead to the following problem…

Problem #3: Overheating

If you keep turning on your plasma TV for hours on end on a regular basis, eventually its components will begin to overheat, and even its built-in cooling fan won’t be able to help much. Also, make sure your plasma TV is set-up in a well-ventilated environment. It helps bring the heat down and the cooling fan will work a lot better.
